I believe that you need to take into account crop factor though too if using a DX lense?? So 35mm would not be 1/35 as a minimum handheld but rather 1/50. Yes? No? Maybe?

Yes, definitely need to include "crop factor" since the extent of visible camera shake is related to field of view and not necessarily focal length (which is just a property of the lens).

Are you sure it's shutter blur? I don't really see it in that photo but maybe it's the way it's sized or shows up on here. I'm wondering if it's more the exposure.

No, I don't think it was shutter jar. I hope I didn't imply that. I think that I can hand hold pretty well as I am a marksman as well, where shake control is very important. I'm just trying to find a recipe for clear in focus shots.

One thing I've done in the past to optimize my chances at sharpness at low shutter speeds is to set the 2-second timer on the shutter release. Sometimes, actuation of the shutter release button can cause small movements in the camera, so delaying the shutter by 2 seconds after the button press gives you a chance to devote every shred of concentration you can muster to holding the camera still.

Obviously, this technique is better suited to static or near-static scenes, but if slow shutter speeds are what we're talking about, then there's probably a good chance those conditions are at play.
