Soo.... you can drive to.... Arvada Co (wherever that is). You'll need a black ski mask (so as not to be recognized), a file (to scrape off the serial number), and some purple spray paint (to disguise the lens and claim that it couldn't be his lens... it's not even the same color!)

I realize you have no idea exactly where Charlie lives, but he has to go outside to use it. Just just drive around town until you see ANYONE with a 300mm f/2.8 lens. They kinda stick out so it should be easy to spot. Then follow him around until he's not looking.

hmmm... that is a good question! lol! There are a few people I would trust with my lenses... and you are definitely one of them!

We will see what happens... ordered the Nikon 1.4 TC too. I have the 2x already. Been looking at the Nikon F4 300, and have been hoping they would update it. Saw this and couldn't turn it down.

I think it was like $1,2xx or so.

They also have a tamron 300mm f2.8 if ld sp for $695 in EX condition. The one I had was in really rough shape with movement where the focusing ring is. A real dog that was pretty meh wider than F4.

My options in the 300-400mm range have always been the manual focus nikkors, older AF tamrons and this gem of a Tokina.

I will still be happy with a nikkor 300mm f2.8 ais! Hopefully the original 300mm f2.8 ED with it's beautifull 18 aperture blades and worlds first lens with ED glass i think!

I have been watching for something like this for quite a while. Don't pop up that often! And I understand... my manual focusing is not as fast, or as accurate as it used to be either! I might start looking for a split center focusing screen... have always preferred those (for macro especially)

Exactly Tim...no need to advocate theft...after just one session of shooting that Tokina on his D800 and ole' Charlie will have it up for say in a Colorado minute!!!!
