C&C per req:

It's a start... The first thing that strikes me is that the crop is way to close; you've got off both elbows and some fingertips. Cropping limbs is fine if necessary, and when done boldly, never at/near a joint and never along a lateral axis. As with many things, the devil is in the details; the blocks could have been straightened to form a nice arc, and her shirt rolled up evenly to avoid the wrinkles. Exposure is a touch hot, but nothing that you shouldn't be able to correct in post. I'm also seeing a slight green cast.

Overall, not bad, some niggly details, but if your friend is willing, take advantage and practice some more!

Uggh. This is not flattering at all.

Her belly looks like a blob instead of a cute little baby bump, and her arms look big. I usually take preggo shots profile or slightly turned, but hardly ever do I take them straight on. And IF I do take them straight on, I would always have the momma standing up straight (I think she is sitting here), lower back arched, chest up and shoulders back. This makes makes the difference between a belly blob and a baby bump.

I like it, but agree with the cropping of elbows and such. I definitely see what Rebekah above is saying about it being more 'blob' than 'bump' but I still think it is a cute shot.

I like these.
The second croping looks much better than the first and I think the lighting is much better too.
Really like photo number 5, I like seeing something a bit different.

On #2, I'm not fond of dad's arm just hanging to the side. I like the closeness between mom and dad with maternity pictures so I would have had his other hand on her waist, or wrapping around the underside of her belly.

I'm not keen on #1, either, whichever way you crop it.
The others I agree are much better. #3 I like and is very traditional but #4 gets my vote because it's unusual (is it? I'm not into babies and bumps), anyway, I haven't seen that done before and I like the unposed feel of it. The smile, the basket and the way the baby blanket is draped all work together (not sure about her choice of colours for baby clothes!).

First picture - not flattering. You photographed it flat on so the tummy looks huge and fat! Does not emphasize a pregnant belly.
