This particular church has a passageway behind the alter

when I was a kid, I was always jealous of the catholic kids. for me, it was like a magical world back there. I knew there were passages behind the alter when my class would take tours of the church (oh yes, in Catholic school, we took tours of the church every year), but I just KNEW there was something the priest wasn't telling us. There HAD to be like secret tunnels and stuff back there ... if only *I* could be selected as an alter boy, I could sneak off and investigate!

And then there was the Aumbry, which I was told was a direct portal to God. I always imagined a small mouse would deliver the Eucharist from God to the Priest. As an eight year old without cultural background to make sense of all of this, never mind reverence, this too needed further investigation. Though, I doubt I was the only one imagining devine mice...
