Wasn't the right camera at the time... went with a G12 instead (started the path with a Nikon P7000).

JPEG. Full auto. Sort of annoying that the S95 will not shoot RAW in auto setting.

Few other minor quirks here or there, but for a "toss in the pocket and go" camera it is very capable.
