My daughter, to be sixteen in early April:

Spontaneous "Hey, stop! Look!"-snap- portrait in our living room with only the surrounding light. "Nifty-fifty" (1.8) at f2.2, I think...

No. Wrong. Checked it: f1.8, ISO 800, WB tungsten, 1/250 sec.

yup excellent results, especially for a candid shot! very sharp (love those 50mm primes! don't you?!).. oh and a very early happy birthday to your daughter (we can still celebrate our unbirthday everyday though, woot!)

Her eyes are 2 different colors? Nice exposure, I figured it was a strobist styled shot until you mentioned the settings.
