Opening NEF file using PS Elements 5.0

I'm trying to use PS Elements V. 5.0 to edit a raw file and I'm getting an error message that it "Cannot open because it's the wrong type of file" although it says it can edit NEF files. Anyone else use this version of Elements? What am I doing wrong?

I edit NEF files in PSE5 all the time. Make sure you have Adobe Camera Raw installed as part of Elements. You can download the most recent version from the Adobe website.
