Opinion on Tamaron 90mm

I'm thinking of buying it for macro photography and I want some advice on it

weird, I literally almost started this thread earlier today. I have and LOVE the 60mm version, and if the 90mm version is close to as good, I'll probably end up picking it up. The 60mm is such a great, versatile lens. It's a stunner on a crop body for portraits, and does good macro. It's not as great as a dedicated macro lens, but it's more versatile AND costs substantially less.

Friend has one and used. I like macro lenses that have a longer minimum focus distance. As less like the 60mm and the insects and such would be spooked and fly away. The Tamron is around 11" I believe. Also for portrait I prefer some stand back distance. As too close changes subjects behavior when getting too close.
