I was curious if anyone uses orthographic film?

As I understand it it is only blue/green sensitive, and some seem to be used for photo-copy work.

Are there any advantages to using it?

You can make some really nice line drawings using it. When I was in college, likely about the same time you were, I used to use it to make separations for multi-color line "drawings" of buildings, signs, etc. Fun stuff but requires a good registration board. Of course, you can do the same thing in PS in about 1/100th the time, but you'd miss that lovely smell of formaldehyde while processing your color film.
