These shots are all from today in an hour time period.

This is a phrase I made up last year, and I figured I should explain it. There are a few things that need to happen to qualify as an Osprey-gasm...
1. There must be an ample supply of Osprey diving and killing fish relatively close.
2. The sun must be at your back and preferably about 3 hours before sunset.
3. The wind must be at your back so Osprey catch the fish and fly towards you (they always take off into the wind)

Optional:
4. Pissed off fisherman saying at least the birds are catching fish and bringing home dinners.
5. On-lookers that sound like they are watching fireworks.(oohs and ahhs)
6. On-lookers that suddenly yell "Splash" and "wow he got a fish!"

Of course comments welcome...

You my friend are awesome

That was good for me to,the best but now its nap time.

Excellent as always! The dive in #3 is the one.

I know I am anthropomorphizing, but I swear those fish are all saying, "Well, man...FML today...I had PLANS, damnit! Big, big plans!"

Awesome like always.

Excellent photos! What lens were you using? I have a 300mm w/ 1.4x teleconverter, and I can't get close enough to Osprey's for that tight of cropping.

Nice work!

Thank you everyone!

I'm so glad it was good for you too :)

D, You will find this hard to believe, but I was shooting in manual with Auto-ISO and EC, lmao :)

Thanks, these are with the Tamron 150-600. I think mostly at 600mm.. #3 is the heaviest crop about 50% on the D7100. A few are barely cropped at all!

Seriously you used an auto setting? Dude - you disappoint me :spank:

#3 is great. I have a similar shot taken early in my birdographer life; likely using a t3I with a 70-200f4 lens. My fingers are crossed as I hope for the same with the Tamster.

Kris, I have been meaning to ask if you have seen an Osprey drown or come close to drowning by tackling too big a fish? The extra toe and reversable talons can be a curse if they are not able to release a large fish. (I never thought of it until another birdographer mentioned it because some nutbar tossed a couple of huge Koi in a local lake)

I was thinking that all those fish have the same clueless frown on their face, as if to say "sh-t...".
