Haven't posted in a while, actually haven't shot in a while. The wife and I took a ride to Forsyth WR. There are several osprey nests there and this is about as close as I could get, still a heavy crop. It felt really good to get out and shoot again.

Excellent timing...you mentioned your limitation......

Regards :D

Ospreys are nice! They are at the top of the food chain. Here I can get few feet from the nest without having the worried.
Like Frequency said, Nice timing! Too bad you couldn't get closer. It's hard to get very sharp when the subject is too far.

Thanks for the observations guys. I'm planning on renting a longer lens, maybe something I could possibly buy if I like the way it performs. I was thinking of the bigma or maybe the Tamron 200-500mm. If any one has experience with one of these i'd love to here your remarks.

Well if you are thinking of renting places like Calumet let you take off what you paid for rental off the purchase of a new one. May be something to consider.

Shoot well, Joe

I shoot with a bosma (150-500mm OS) and I'm pretty happy. It is not the sharpness of a Nikon 500mm VRII, but it is a long stabilized lens that you can hand-held shoot easily with it (around 4 pounds). If you want some examples of shots I've taken take a look at my threads : Ospreys and ducks.

Thanks Marc i'll take a look.
