just messing around at a friends house.
thought I would try some shots I don't normally do.
you know, branch out a little.

spent a lot of time trying to decide how i wanted to edit this, and how far into the black to go with the shirt, as well as how dramatic i wanted to make the contrast.

No.
These were shot with a single 42" brolly.

Subsequent shots were done with a 3 light setup. 2 brollys and a hairlight.

I like the last two ... some dramatic lighting but not over the top dramatic lighting.

Something a little less dramatic.
Decided to stick a flash with a small softbox on my monopod and use it as a hairlight.

yea...took a lot of fine tuning though.
I really should get some medium softboxes.
the umbrellas are nice, but hard to direct.
the hairlight worked out pretty good though. going to start using one more often.
