Wow. What an amazing venue, and the shots are gorgeous.

For most of these, I captured an additional underexposed shot so that I could later blend it in to better control the highlights (especially the chandeliers). I blended them in using a luminosity mask.

So, sorta like HDR, except more selective.

Exactly...much more control over the adjustments.
