As for processing, I do a lot actually. Here is a link to download my preset (LR)

This is pretty much my starting point. (preset) from there I will sometimes do a midtone bump in curves. Or if it is too dark bring up the shadows.

Tried out the preset. Worked really well for some, I was on the right track but your preset starts with a lot more push than I was comfortable with.

One of my shots converted well using the B&W Preset as a starting point:

I think that looks nice! I would probably add a s curve for a tiny bit more contrast. Cute shot!
