can you not link individual pictures with code where the pics show up? thats how i do it with flickr. pretty sure you can do it with IG too.

I have requested that TPF provide an easy method to post IG photos. Still waiting to hear back... since 2016.

i only use flickr, so im totally unfamiliar with other hosting sites. i just assumed they all had some way to link via code like flickr has.
if not, i would say they are "teh suck" as far as picture hosting goes if you want to share to mediums other than IG itself.

Flickr is a social media and hosting site. IG is a social media site. IG does not provide code like Flickr does, because it's not a hosting site. However, many people use IG to share their photos. Many people come on here and post a link to their IG like the OP did here in hopes of sharing their photos for critique.

It seems simple enough for TPF to allow such sharing through IG (but I'm not a tech person). There may be reasons not to allow this, but no one has responded to my thread. I know that's not my decision to make, rather TPF's, but I'd still be interested in hearing the reasons why.

no idea. im not one of the tech guys so i couldnt say how complicated it is or isnt to incorporate such linking into the site. it works with FB though doesnt it?
on the flip side, i would assume it is equally plausible for IG to incorporate a way to generate code with a linkback the way flickr does in order to share IG photos other places, therefor sharing the overall IG site with more people.

They do... and their code for embedding pictures doesn't seem to work here...

i dunno then...like i said, not a tech guy.
maybe IG uses some weird format that makes it more difficult to incorporate the code. maybe IG wants people to post links in order to drive traffic to their site.
flickr has several links you can use..html, bbccode..does IG have any different code options to cut/paste here? other than that, im at a loss...
speculation is not a worthy science.
what I do know is that it joining up here and just posting offsite links has always been frowned upon. the site owners want things kept as in-house as reasonably possible. I realize IG might be a bit of an anomaly as far as direct image posting goes, but its not a recent issue. im sure we have a number of members that have IG accounts that still manage to share pictures here.

How is what I'm asking any different than posting Flickr images? If one clicks the image, it takes the person back to the source--whether Flickr or IG.

Anyways, I'd just like a response from the site or an administrator that the site at least looked into it? @terri?
