Payments on a dslr

Personally.... I screwed up my credit when I was 19-20. DUMBASS POST TEENAGER syndrome ROFL! Well I'm 27 now and have been working on my credit. I agree, dont purchase if you dont have the $$. I went to best buy with DH and we took out a CC together He has almost perfect credit so we did a card together he co signed. We did the 18 month intreset and I paid it off in 4 months. I had already had the $$ saved up but wanted to help build my credit so I just would pay it out of the $$ I saved. Killed 2 birds with 1 stone :) Got me a nice beginner dslr and built up credit.

SAVE. Then buy.

No, you'll live longer if you don't know how to properly spend money you don't have. Credit is a great asset if used properly.

Learning how to manage credit is one thing that I'm forever in debt to my parents for. PUN ****ING INTENDED.

Consider a $5,000 dollar loan.

5 years at 6% interest will be about $96 a month. If you got that loan today and added $100 a month on top of your payment it would be payed off by in 16-18 months.

Next consider how much you car payment is. Is it less than $200 per month.

Yes... IMO like a car (to get to work and earn a living), a house (shelter), or an emergency. Heck, its their decision let them make it.... and lets hope they don't come back here to rant that they were screwed in the process (BestBuy).

We'd go a long way if they would stop doing this like this:

No Interest / Interest Free

If paid in full before the agreed term. One late payment and your a$$ is ours! Yeh Yeh Yeh... its really deferred interest but we are banking a percentage of stupid consumers to fall for it

Get a small personal loan from your bank. If you have the money in an account the bank should have no issue. They can direct link the payments to your account. This is how I built credit. I had a couple thousand dollars in a checking account took out a loan and every month they automatically took the money. I built a great payment history that way and the bank had no issue because the money was already with their institution.

Yep!

Thanks to paid off low interest car loans, paid off motorcycle loans, paid off home loans, my FICO score is over 800 and I only owe a total $500 on all of my CC's. I can pretty much qualify for loans under $1m but doesn't mean that I'm going to borrow out of my means.

I financed my camera. :D Use your credit wisely.

Borrowing for a depreciating consumer good is not a very smart thing to do if you don't run a business where the stuff is for the business to run more efficiently and where the carrying cost is an expense against revenue.

Buying on credit for a hobby is not a wise use of credit, in fact, it's a start towards bankruptcy.

You could build a house with all these soap boxes

There's nothing wrong with using credit. Hell, every piece of electronic I own (except this computer I'm typing on) was bought on interest free credit. Just pay it all back within the time limit and enjoy your crap. I've paid off at least 10,000 dollars of equipment with in the allotted time and have yet to have an issue with it. Just pay your bills. Can't build credit if you don't use it.
