Wow, looks like you found a Southern Florida Red Shouldered Hawk! They look different up here. I like the background in the first 2 shots, but I probably would have cropped so the bird is off center. It might hep the pelicans if you bring the exposure down a touch, especially in the first one. Looks like you are getting the hang of the lens
The red-shouldered Hawk definitely a juvenile. I like the second one best. Until Heitz mentioned it, I never thought of the Pelicans as looking like pterodactyls, but they do, sort of. Glad they aren't as big as the ones we often see in the movies. I like the first one best of the two, although it looks a little overexposed.
Thanks for the advice. I guess I need to remember my rule of thirds. There were a lot of pelicans moving through our area yesterday migrating back up north so I got a lot of them. Agree with the exposure on that one. The hawk is taken out my back yard and is going to be a mom soon. So hopefully will have some pics of the little ones coming.
Nice catch on the hawk all fluffed up like that. I've never seen a hawk do that. Also quite like the single bif. Pelicans are extremely rarely seen around here, so have never had the opportunity to shoot one.
