Pentax S-mount and M42 - Same or different?

Yes, for the most part, the "Pentax screw mount" is the same as the M-42 thread mount.

There are some sub-variations in the stop-down arrangements, but the majority of lenses use the small, pencil-lead-sized single pin stop-down. In common English, Pentax screw thread and M42 can be considered as referring to the same lens mounting system.

Thanks, Derrel - I'm looking at a macro bellows with S-mount, but I use M42 lenses manually on my Canon. As long as I can stop down manually with the aperture ring on the lens, then that'll be fine. Think I'll get iot cheap if no one realises it's M42 :)
