Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hi Guys.

I am wondering if you can help me. I am attending Diwali (popularly known as the "festival of lights", an important festival in Hinduism) tomorrow with a hope to experience some new culture and catch some interesting photographs too. Can you give me any advice on taking photographs of people, how to approach it, composition etc etc. I'm presuming this is going to be a big day and as I am new to photography I hope to cherish the opportunity to learn more about using my camera in different situations. Any photos as examples would be great too!

All help is very much appreciated.

Thanks a million! B

There's a whole forum on this site called "people photography," you should check it out

Hi B and welcome to TPF

The best advice i can give you is;
Separate the subject from all the surrounding clutter.
You can achieve this by moving closer to the subject so more of the frame is filled by the person you shoot and shooting wide open so you isolate the subject from the background.

What gear do you have? Since the festival seems to be at night you will probably need a prime, what camera-house do you have, how do it handle high iso?

Hope i could help :)

Thank you very much for your replies. cbrown222 i will be sure to go through that forum thank you.

Noxire, thank you for your advice i will definitely practice that tomorrow. I have a Canon 1000D standard lens.

Just be direct and ask people if you can take their photos. Smile and be friendly. Offer to show people the pictures. And if you dont like the way a pic might come out do not be afraid to ask if you can take another. Watch your framing too. But most importantly - HAVE FUN!!!!
