Honestly I thought the photos I took of the huge Fresnel lens up top were more interesting.. lol.. but probably not as interesting from an artistic point of view...

i like this photo, it is good. I think i would like to see that fresnel lamp though. I dont' see as many of those as bw staircases.....

No, I didn't.

Black and white tends to highlight shapes and patterns, so I can see how this one might work even better in monochrome. I like the perspective of this, but who knows - maybe the colors are distracting attention from some of the more interesting details. I'd at least try a conversion to see which one works better.

here is one of the Fresnel lens / lamp... It was tough to photograph up in the top, so close but crammed in with other tourists and the tour guide Nazi who became very agitated if anyone even gestured towards the glass ....I took a dozen or so photos up there and this is just one of them.. not selected for any artistic reason... just informational

thanks for the B&W version Authentic Southerner and for me its not about trying to get all artistic, yes I like the colour of cities/buildings and of objects but in this case the B&W is a good option as the shape is probably the highlight. I actually like brick or terracotta colour and large brick walls can look good both in shape and natural colour...nice photo either way

I was wondering if the color of the stairs is gray and it is just different lighting that is giving a color change from gray to yellow? The bricks don't seem to have a color change. Anyway, I think I like the color version better than the BW.

It seems to me like a background in search of a subject. But maybe that's just the Joe McNally in my "training" coming out.
