Pet Rental for photoshoot.

Anyone have any good advice on how to locate pets such as dogs, cats and other common family pets to use for a photo shoot with a model?

Kennels?
Craig's List?
Veterinarians?
Groomers?
Dog/cat clubs?

Which sources have you tried so far?

If you use Facebook .. just ask all of your contacts by putting up a posting.
Or if you are looking for very specific breeds, colors, etc, well you could also post that on your facebook.

Not sure about others, but our 4 legged kids are our babies. No amount of money would sway me to consider loaning them to a stranger. Like children they need supervision, how can you concentrate on the shoot and keep watch on them. My suggestion is to seek out a trainer who will not only supply the animals, but be responsible for them, and provides insurance to cover not only the animals but everyone else on the set. What happens if that sweet little mutt takes a dislike to your model and tries to chew their face off?
