For a class I have to shoot white on white, the example she showed was a white dog in snow. No snow here but i was thinking shooting my roll of toilet paper that sits on a holder against white wall tile. Or maybe place the roll on a closed toilet seat. Not a lot of natural light in the bathroom though.

any tips for getting the contrast of white subject on white background?

The simplest trick may be lightning. Light the background however you want. Light the subject different, keep in mind the one stop rule.

2Wheels is right that it will be in the lighting. Does the subject have to be completely white or can it be predominately white?

Example

Vanilla ice cream in a white bowl?? Maybe you could even sprinkle some shredded coconut on it to give it a little something extra. Can you tell I'm hungry?? lol

subject definitely does not have to be completely white. I like the ice cream idea, i'm open to any suggestions!

can you give a little more detail, I don't have any photo lights... can i use the flash?

does one stop rule mean to over/underexpose by one stop?

I'm probably putting too much thought into this lol but if you use vanilla bean ice cream, it'll have those little black dots to give it something extra. A friend of mine went on a fancy date with her boyfriend over the weekend and posted a picture of her dessert on Facebook. It was a white plate with vanilla ice cream and some other little white sauces and things like that making a cool design on the plate. I'll see if I can get her permission to post her picture up here for you to see. If she says it's okay, I'll post it after work.

a tp shot sounds like sh*t. Think outside of the bowl!

This may fool her, this is white paper shot on white background (thinking outside the box)

Eggs in a styrofoam egg carton...there is nice texture on the egg shells, a little bit on the styrofoam and there are wonderful hills and valleys in the egg carton's egg-holders. Eggs are wonderfully shaped for showing lighting character and direction. They are in fact, a fairly common instructional subject in commercial and small-product photography lighting exercises.
