Photo Club Meetings With Zoom - things to do?

Sounds like a great time to let guests from around the world see what your club is all about.

Monitoring the club meeting but not participating is a good idea. We have our second zoom tomorrow. I'll suggest that. Also others have made good suggestions as well. Thanks all.

The meeting information, including the meeting number and password, were posted on the photography club's Facebook page to inform members, but that's public information and probably where the jerk picked it up from.

The Ukiah Photography Club (Northern California) has been doing monthly Zoom meetings since around April. They're certainly not as satisfying as in-person meetings (we used to meet over lunch at a pizza place) but they have kept the club intact. We typically have around 10 participants and have never had any problems with inappropriate behavior. We've structured our meetings pretty much the same as previously, which means: some general how-ya-doin' time while members arrive; announcements about upcoming photo events and shows; photo questions and discussions, usually about some shooting or processing technique; and show-and-tell for new equipment. We usually do a "mystery photo critique" where we discuss a photo, anywhere from famous to obscure (example of famous: AA's "Clearing Winter Storm"; example of obscure: a birthday photo from a roll of film found in a thrift-store camera). The bulk of the time is for our photo-share, where we critique each others photos (the critiques are usually pretty mild). We have a monthly theme, which can be interpreted or ignored as members choose. Recently we started a discussion about whether or not to attempt some kind of online show. All of this takes around two hours. The biggest complaint is that no one is getting out to take new pictures, but this has led to some of us perusing our archives and discovering or reinterpreting some forgotten gems. We all look forward to meeting in person again, but that doesn't appear to be happening soon. If you'd like to be a guest at one of our meetings contact ukiahphotoclub@comcast.net.

We're going to get a speaker for our group and open it up to 5-6 other photo clubs nearby. All on zoom. All the other club will do the same. ABout one zoom meeting a month.
