Photo editing software

I think CS6 is the best nowaday editing software, not only powerful, it also easy to use.
And Photo impact and Pixelmator is good too

Photoshop CS 6 (Photoshop 13) is not the current release of Photoshop.
Photoshop CC 2014 (Photoshop 15) is the current release.

There was an update to CC 2014 available this morning.

I'm not sure if anyone has recommended Capture One 7 here yet, cause the thread is very long to read through. I use it about 90% of the time, the only time i'll use CS or CC are when I need to edit skin on a model, which is something I go light on anyway, if not skip completely. If you're into nature or wildlife photography then Capture One 7 is a great software. Obviously it goes better with a phase one back, but it can be used for any level camera

Yeah, Im downloading the trial now, but dont have much faith in companies that post examples that are too small to tell the difference and dont allow a bigger version. And contrary to some oppinions, Adobe is still king.

Edit: Wow Capture is almost as bad as Capture nx-d as far as clumsyness and lacking features. I was hoping for a lot more.

When I bought my first digital camera about 2002 (a Canon G3), it came with 'Photoshop LE' - as in "limited edition". It could do all the basic things I thought I needed to do to get my photographs 'presentable'. I finally upgraded to Lightroom and Photoshop Elements about 5-6 years ago and have found those to very sufficient for my needs. In comparison to Photoshop LE of 2002, the current versions are light-years more advanced and easier to use, once I learned about white balance and noise control.

I use PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate, got it on eBay for $30.00 and does everything I need and then some.

PaintShop Pro (PSP) by Corel is used by a lot of people.

Long thread, and over a month old but just to post an opinion - Picking PP software should be like picking a camera. For newbie they should start with something easy to use, rather than jumping into the deep end of the pool. PS versions that can do everything come with very steep learning curves. Steep enough, i would suspect, to defeat many aspiring photographers. These programs come with features that are intended for professional use over a wide range of applications. Some far beyond photography. At the same time, all these features eat up RAM and storage space. Lastly, there are some things that the lesser versions may do better.
There is a reason that the Air Force doesn't put its student pilots in F16s the first day. In fact many of those students will only see an F16 from the outside. Start with simple (simpler) and move up if need be.
When it comes to PP software, simple is better for beginners. Products like LR are plenty powerful and will probably do everything most of us ever need to do. Probably better for most of us.

Yeah I mean I guess it's all based on personal preference. I would tell you to buy it and see how it goes, but I know it's not cheap. Then again I don't remember how much the trial offered. It's a favorite of mine, never really liked Adobe for some reason

For ease of use and most useful features, what is the best editing software?

I have read multiple reviews, but would like advise from someone who actually use the product.

LR5 never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think I've seen it all from that program I discover something I didn't know it could do. It is amazing. It's fairly simple to use as I am about as average as a person can be when it comes to this stuff and I always walk away feeling like a genius after using it.
