I took this when I went to the zoo a while back. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about it. Any help is appreciated.

The focus is sharp on the lizard. I personally like the OOF branch in the foreground as it adds a sense of depth for me. I know a LOT of people do not like OOF foreground objects though. This one seems to work for me. The line in the wall in the background is a bit distracting. Maybe that can be cloned/healed out? It is especially distracting since it is not level. Very nice capture overall though. (Remember, I am NOT a professional by any stretch of the imagination)

So I'm not even technically a photographer yet, so take this with very little thought, but I feel like theres a lot of head room on the picture. I also agree with John.

I like it and I agree that the foreground branch is a nice addition but the fibers on a branch to the left of the lizard seem annoying to me, but I guess it was in a cage or something so you couldn't have taken it away. Anyway, nice focus, nice colours and a nice shot!

thanks for the replies. this was hand held in low light so I was pretty impressed at the sharpness. I agree with the threads to the left, maybe i'll remove them. I purposely kept that branch in the foreground for depth but I didnt even notice the line in the back ground.

OOF foreground objects are OK, but in my opinion they are less obtrusive if they are darker than the main subject. I would try to darken that branch and also some of the lighter leaves in the background.

There's no room on the bottom so a little head room is needed or else it'll be too crop. Plus it gives it a dramatic look that he might jump right at you.

Nice shot, did you turn on the saturation? Or is it naturally like that?

I turned up the saturation a tad bit. My monitor is crap so forgive me if it's a little too much

lookin at it some more, I agree, I need to make that oof branch less distracting.

I think when a viewer sees an object in an important place, intact and in focus, the assumtion is that it is important.
Thus that big branch crossing on the left pulls the eye and attention. And you end up vignetting outside of it to close off the image.

Perhaps cropping the picture serves two purposes. It removes the branch as an 'important object' and closes off that corner naturally.
