Lots of us are frustrated because things seem to happen far too slowly. Well let me recommend a book for you. I don't think it is in print but I found it for my nephew at amazon for a pitance. If you can find them read the daybooks of edward weston. I think there are two day books published together in paper back.

If you don't know who he was try googling him. It is an interesting look into the mind of a photographer when it was happening and then what he became along the way.

An essential read for any aspiring artist.
