Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I am looking for some advice on what site to use for sharing my photos...PHotobucket, Flickr, SmugMug? Any others or suggestions on what you use? Something quick and easy preferably.... :raisedbrow:

o_O
How did I miss this one?

Flickr is easy to use, free, big and more importantly it's fun.
There are groups you can join - there's the Explore option etc... Go Flickr :D

Take a look at Picasa Web. You can store a lot more pictures there than Flickr. If you pay for a Flickr account, you get a lot of storage but if you don't pay, it's not much.

Thanks! I will check them out!

ipernity.com for community interaction.
min.us for speed and convenience.
fotologue.jp is very cool but dog slow.
23hq.com is ok too.

I could use some input on this as well! Completely noob, but still, reading the terms on Photobucket put me off (their license over images appears to be way too lax). Is flicker better?

Flickr have got that 200 max BS for displaying pictures in free accounts. Puts me off these days.

How about Zenfolio? Is it good? I see it's not cheap, but it's policies seem acceptable. Input?

I've only ever used Flickr and I love it. The notion that you can only store 200 on a free account not entirely accurate. You can store as many as you like, but you will only be able to see the last 200 that you uploaded on a free account. As soon as you pay the annual fee, all the rest will be visible. The annual fee is only US$24.95 which to me, is totally worth it.

Photobucket do have nasty terms and conditions plus their uploader and resizer are not the best. Flickr has a good site term and condition of use and its uploader and auto resizer do a good job. As said a free account there has its limitations, but an annual subscription is cheaper than for most magazines and once you look through the large number of groups on there you can quickly find a good few which will give you a lot of good advice and info (after you wade through the sea of "click/award my photo" groups ;)).

For sharing photos and social interaction flickr is about the best there is on the net at present.

Apparently Flickr is not ok with hot linking. How should I proceed with C&C posts?

flickr is perfectly ok with hot linking you just have to learn how to do it - just select view all sizes on the photo (or right click the photo to bring up the size options). Then select the size. In the new window just right click the photo and there is the URL/address of the photo itself. A bit of a work around and you do have to put the [ img ] tags in yourself, but otherwise flickr is "the" place to be

You were suggested other choices, Why ignore them?

Forkie - try reading reading and absorbing what i wrote rather than telling me what I already know.

My post wasn't intended as a dig, PASM. Apologies if it read that way.
