Photo Shoot Planning

I am not sure where to post this one so I hope here is alright.

My wife asked me to do some photo work at church. It will be an outdoor event. I understand it will be portraits of families and I am concerned about space. Also, the other kicker, it will be late in the evening and being geared for christmas, it will happen in December. In other words, it will be DARK.

My wife suggested an EZ-Up canopy but at 10 ft x 10 ft, or even a 12 x 12, I worry about size. Probably ok for individuals but families maybe not. I would probably need more length for a portrait lens and width too, if the family is large.

I also worry about the canopy sides. It should not be open because it is night and I need control. I'm thinking white walls would help bounce light around and make things quite easy?

Has anyone had an experience like this? Any ideas?

I just got 'volunteered' tonight and thankfully I have plenty of time to work this out.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
