Photography Newbie Here.... Suggestions on my self portrait please!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Samantha and I am new both here and to photography. It's always been a bit of a hobby for me and now I would like to finally brush up on actual technique. Well, here is a photo I took of myself while I was trying to take a self portrait for the first time. Any suggestions on how I can improve???

Well, your avatar is 81x100px, so that's not really large enough to critique your photo.

Use a slightly smaller aperture next time and both your eyes will be in focus.

The nose seems a bit large in comparison with the the rest of the face. I would suggest that you move the camera farther away, and use a longer focal length, to alleviate that distortion of the nose's size.
