C&C per req:

1. A nice mono conversion, but I'd like to see more of the statuary and a lot less of the pole/lightstand image and the bridge in the background.

2. Again, a rather tight crop. The background here is also rather distracting and there are many blown/nearly blown highlights on the subject.

3. Again, over-bright highlights and deep shadow, as well as a very bright area in the background image right, which draws the eye away from the subject. Why did you place it so far to the left?

4. This one would have been much stronger were it shot straight, level and square. Again, you've composed too tightly and cropped off some of the metal image left.

Without knowing more detail on the nature of the contest and the general submission level, I would have to say that I wouldn't submit any of these. You have some good ideas, but all of the images, IMO, have issues, either compositional or technical. Based on the name of the contest, I would think that #1 is the best contender, but I would go back for a reshoot paying attention to the composition and background.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

Agree with all of the above, except that the highlights on the statue in 2 and 3 look OK to me.

With number 4, I would much prefer leaving the symmetry of the subject intact.
