Photoshop and the cloud.

I have just purchased cc for photographers. I've noticed when using ps all the images on my MacBook have a cloud beside them, some with a (!) inside. What is this. Dose this mean they are being uploaded to the cloud? I'm concerned that it will use my dater when I'm shooting away from home. If so can I turne it off? Any help would be great.

I am not familiar with MacOS, but is it maybe an automated backup of all photo files to the Apple Cloud?
