Something about #1 that I like .... I think it is his standing position and the inquisitive look he has.

I really like the detail in #4. #2&3 I don't like the feet cut off. #1 is a great shot as well of the whole bird - feet included.

I really like the detail in #4. #2&3 bug me with the feet cut off. #1 is a close second having the whole bird - feet included.

I like the first one and the last one the best. The eye is in focus in each one and there is a catchlight in the eye as well - nice shots.

Numbers 1 and 4 definitely the best. Backgrounds super and focus sharp. The cut off feet of the other two detracts from otherwise excellent shots.

Thanks everyone! It's funny I never think of zooming out. I always shoot at 500mm. I was actually surprised that he kept getting closer. #2 and 3 are vertically the full frame. I really like the attitude in #2. I have really been working on backgrounds. I set out to shoot wide open at F6.3 to see how my lens was performing.

I also like the look he is giving in number two. I just wish his feet were in the frame.

I love the detail in the 4th but I prefer the composition of the first. The little touch of background and the wood he's standing on make for a more pleasing composition I think. The two of them together would look great on a wall ;)

I would like to see the first with the bird a bit more to the right. I understand why he is positioned there, but it looks a bit too far to the left I think. I could be wrong, but it's something worth thinking about.
