Well, I was struggling with my feelings on my Sigma 70-300 DG lens. Yesterday I decided to remove the UV filter from it and take a few shots. Not to start a debate between filter or no filter, but I think the lens preformed noticeably better without the filter. Keep in mind this was not a great filter, so I think it's a case of get what you pay for.

Your shots are great with or without the filter...#2 and #3 shots needs a little bit of PP lightening to bring out the textures of the feathers and the face, but then what do I know? -- I am still wanting to be a wannabe birdographer... :lol:

let us hope the others interested in audubons will pitch in...

Thank you for the feedback lzzieK, Photo editing is something I need to work at. It was around noon yesterday when the heron flew over so the light was good on top and not so good below. Post production is needed, I think the shots will be great to learn some editing with. You bet baturn, just take a short walk and get into the wetlands. This land has recently been claimed by Pheasants Forever so I am looking forward to their release.
