What's new

pics of my firebird. c&c please

well tried to give it another shot today. i was going to play with the manual settings. set it on f/4, 1/500 sec, and iso to 100. took this picture, and noticed the passenger side looked a little low lol. looked underneath and the panhard bar is extremely loose. anyway, just thought id see what u guys thought of this and if im on the right track as far as the settings go or just what ya think of the picture.

See how much a better background makes. Do you have any off camera flash? If not, think about where your shadows are before taking the picture. If they're a problem then you'll have to move or change the position of the subject(car).

world of difference. i dont have any off camera flash. the plan was to take multiple shots as i walked around the car, then go back around again and try different settings. then move the car and repeat. but when i saw the rear end was about to come apart, it was time to take it home haha.

i really appreciate the tips, theyre literally helping overnight!

yeah this one is definatly a better shot. since its daytime probalby had allot faster shutter speed giving you a nice picture, think you had a bit of camera shake in the first set. nigh shots are better when used with a tripod to keep the camera still. for what you did here i would have angled the car the opposite way so you had the sun shining and all your shadows were on the opposite side of the car. and then proalby gotten down a bit lower. also usually the best time to shoot a car is early morning or late in the day. and its a shot of the car. maybe try getting a bit more car in the shot then this. its much improved over the last set though.

second session looks waay better. the first shots look like they came out of a point and shoot.

thanks! im finally starting to understand it a little. i dont really know what to use for what situations yet, but the effects each setting has makes sense now. i just wish i could get the raw images to load

1st shots:

You need to clean and dress your inner wheel well liners. Doesn't look clean at all.
Watch for your reflectors. The orange reflectors on your front bumpers are...well...reflecting...

2nd shot:

Better, but to really make an automotive photo stand out you need to have nice DOF, the way this looks, it's more like a landscape photo with a car thrown in. Also, what time of day was this taken?

Much better! I would have tried for f/8 at least even if you had to bump the ISO to 400, but it looks pretty good.

dont get me started on the inner fenders. the fronts werent noticeable untill i put the skinny tires on. and i thought the 26" slicks would be enough to tuck more in the rear....i was wrong. knew i shoulda gone with the 27". also, the y pipe really irritates me (u can see it just below the driver door). horrible design. another thing i have to do is paint the calipers and brackets because they look horrible since they show so much thru these wheels

the picture was taken about 11:00 am

thanks! i was hopin to get some tips on some settings. i know it varies a lot, but great to have a starting point
