New to the site and so far love everything about it and all the feedback I got in my 1st post. I wanted to share two pics that I recently took and get some feedback on them. This is using my T3i with my new 430EX II Flash.
Exposure on your dog looks good! Composition.. not so much. Usually you would want to either get the whole dog, or shoot a headshot type portrait! This is kind of in between with part of his body and legs cut off.
Rose... nice selective focus... and some soft background. But this would have been better shot vertically... to kill as much of that boring dead space to the side as possible. Usually Roses ( and flowers in general) are more interesting from the front... but with the drops and stem, this isn't bad.
You have the shot set to private on Flickr, so we can't check out a larger version. You also have "Do Not Edit" turned on... so we can't show you our suggestions...
Love the exposure of your dog, but cgipson1 said pretty much all there is to suggest. For me, however, flower framing depends on if you're photographing a single flower or a few, and as well as what the background is.
