Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I have notice lately when i post photos on here they look awful compared to another forum i go on, whats going on ?

IQ depends on the image's host server. Many site compress (read: degrade) the image in order to save space.

User error :) JK. It is just the hosting site and how you convert it to low res jpeg I assume. Plus the white background doesnt help.

The Chatsworth Horse trials photos are coming in to my computer as very SMALL images, sized to around the size of a playing card, so there is not much fine detail that can be ascertained. ON a couple, I can tell/see small droplets of water and such, so much that I can tell the image was shot at a good shutter speed, focus is good, lens is good, but I can not really "SEE" small or high-frequency detail as much as I can "TELL" that it is present in the pictures. My guess is the way the images are being sized down for web display, either by your web hosting company, or by TPF's forum software and the decisions it makes.

The shots on the other forum are definitely larger and seem to have more saturation in the sky. I looked at two identical pics (the first one posted on the other forum) and the addresses listed for the location are slightly different. I'm not sure why that is. Do you have more than one version on your smugmug and perhaps used the wrong link box or something? Here's the addresses:

Looks ****

As previously mentioned, many sites compress .jpg's which lowers their resolutions. This site will shrink any image more than 800 pixels wide (which I just found out) down to 800 pixels. Keep in mind that browsers like Internet Explorer are also not "color safe", unlike Firefox which is, so colors and saturation you see on your monitor in Photoshop or a picture viewer, can look very different on the web. It is extremely annoying but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it.
