Searching the forum I didn' see anything terribly recent, so I thought I'd ask for opinions again.
I currently run a Dell U2407wfp HC from '06 and calibrate with a Datacolor Spyder 4 Pro to a gamma of 2.2, 6500K, 180 cd/m2 (recommended settings from Datacolor)
There' nothing wrong with my current monitor, but I want to start running a dual monitor setup. I borrowed a friends Dell U2412M but when I set it up and calibrated it, they are noticeably different despite being calibrated to the same standard. My monitor appears warmer with more color depth, which is probably just due to the borrowed monitor not being a wide gamut display and my monitor may have a warmer white point from the backlight.
That does bring up another question, though. My monitor is backlit by CCFL and the borrowed monitor is LED. Can they ever be calibrated to look exactly the same, then?
Anyway, I am looking at a companion monitor to mine, wide gamut, in the 24" or 25" size range, under $500.
Any suggestions?
