Plants in a stream C&C

Taken at a small creek along the trail where i ride my bike. Looked nice riding by so i stopped for a pic. Any comments on improvements always appreciated.

could use a crop somewhere, something. i dont know. Them coming out up of mud is a really nice photo..

Kinda what I thought. Missing something. Still trying to get the composition thing figured out. Along with other things. Too little time too many hobbies.

maybe if you could single a couple out and keep a shallow dof with the others oof.

The issue is there is no real subject,nothing to grab a viewer's attention. But keep shooting and keep asking, you'll get there :icon_thumright:

Yeah. I have got the same response from the other landscape shots I have posted. It makes sense and I think I can benefit from the constructive criticism. It provides good motivation to get out and take more pictures and try to put the advice into use. Thanks.

I'll second what BillM said. This has potential but lacks a subject.

The colors are nice and the terraced pattern of the stream is interesting. But, no specific subject. I bet you can get a nice image out of that location. Bring a tripod.

I like it, but like the others said, no real subject. Seeing you had a tripod, or something there to put your camera on, why did you shoot F4? I guess I would have gone f11-16, seeing that shutter-speed was no problem. Or if your max shutter speed is 30s, I would have set that in shutter priority, and shot at the smallest aperture possible.

I have a few others shot at a smaller aperture bur it seemed like the background was too busy. I was trying to get the plants in the front to stand out from the rest but I don't think I composed it correctly. Also, I didn't get the focus right so the plants in the front are out of focus when I shot f11 but the background area is sharp. Camera was sitting on a log so I was using live view to compose the shot. Next time I bring the tripod. I bought a tripod that attaches to my backpack so I also have one with me. Pretty handy to have but backpack is getting heavy if I bring all the gear.
