Hi, folks. I just joined the forum. I'm retired and living in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Virginia. I'm neither a professional, a competitor or experienced. I take pictures because it's fun, that's all. I have two cameras, both old and given to me. I'm about to buy a third, new.

My wonderful wife called me to the back door this afternoon. "Come quick, but be quiet!" The doe saw me as I walked up to the sliding glass door and began to ease away. I knew, if I opened the door, she would bolt, so I shot through the glass and hoped for the best.

How cool! She was probably after your bird feeders! ;)

We put out wild bird feed, cracked corn and sunflower hearts for the birds and squirrels. She's been here three times now and this was the first time I was prepared.

haha wish i got wildlife like that in my back garden, all we get over here in the UK is pesky pigeons on our bird feeders.

shame you weren't able to get the door open and get closer, a shot with it looking straight at you would have been great.

I HAD a shot at it looking right at me and I wasn't ready! WAAAAA!!

"If you shoot through a window hold the lens up to the glass & you will get less reflection."
That was the first thing I thought of, Ron! The target was about twenty degrees right of perpendicular with the plane of the glass door. It was a "Shoot now or lose it" choice.I ran the lens out to full mag, touched the lens cowling to the glass and hoped for the best.Actually, I did get off one outside the door. She began easing up into the thicket, so I slid the door open just enough to take a parting shot at her. THIS was the last time I saw her yesterday. She'll be back. She's become very fond of that cracked corn and Sunflower hearts!
