Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
What is wrong with my desktop, the files are becoming a mess, if I go to the laptop they are fine I just do all my editing on the desktop. I may be missing information and if you need it I can get it but here is what they look like. I have never seen this and do not know where to start nothing like this on google or anything Thank you in advance

I have never seen anything like that in my life. Are you copying them off the memory card both on your desktop and your laptop? Have you tried copying them to the laptop and then moving them over via a flash drive or external hard disk?

I really don't get what your doing but If I am understanding correctly the photos are ok until you edit in lightroom? Maybe your software is corrupt and need to reinstall a fresh Copy.

They look like corrupted image files.

Your going to need to explain this. All files on your computer are on hard drives including the photos in Lightroom.

Ok what has been happening is I put the card into the desktop and import them to the external HD once they are there it is hit or miss sometimes it's fine others are not. So what I have been doing is using laptop to transfer files from sd card to the external HD. All photos look fine I can view all of them. Then take the external HD to the desktop and then they get messed up when viewing them. But on the laptop they are still fine.

So what I was trying to say was on the left the picture was fine and the right after import it shows up like that in lightroom. I am just unsure what and where the files are corrupted, very frustrating for me.

My next option I was going to was format the HD, which is also giving me a fight I think I am starting fresh new HD.

How EXACTLY are you transferring them to the from camera to desktop? And how EXACTLY are you transferring them from camera to the laptop?

You are not providing us with enough info to help you!

Are you transferring them to the computer via a USB cable connected to the camera? If so are you using the same cable to connect the camera to both computers?
Are you using a built in card reader on the computer?
Are you using a External USB card reader? If so are you using the same external card reader on both computers?

Easy there that's going to the extreme. Answer my last post first so we can rule out the transfer method as to why the images are become corrupt.

DESKTOP
Ok from the beginning.
I take a picture I use a 16gig sd card.
Insert that card into the desktop through its multi-card reader.
I then store them in an external HD through usb so I don't take up tons of space each being stored in a certain file.
I then take the photos and import them into LR 5.

LAPTOP
From the beginning.
I take a picture with the camera.
Insert the sd card into sd card reader built into the laptop.
Through usb the photos are transferred to the external HD.
I then plug that HD into the desktop to find them messed up as well.

All card readers are built in.

Never hook the camera up to computers via usb cable. I have always used the cards in the card readers.

Try connecting the camera to the desktop since that is the one you are having issues with and transferring the photos that way NOT using the built in card reader.

It is possible the card reader that is built in is not transferring files correctly and thus corrupting them.
