I'm getting a Nikon D300... but I don't really know a whole lot about lenses... are these good, versatile lenses for an amateur? They come in a package and are at a great price, but I don't want to waste money on a good deal if it's not going to be good for what I like to do.
I like more creative photography macro/portraits, but in the typical creative angle kinda way.
All input is appreciated.

Where are you finding that package? Looking for the lowest price on the internet, usually leads to disappointment.

I have a friend who ordered off of fotoconnection.com they get mixed reviews...
anyone know about them?
She seemed pleased, but it could be a lucky break, or that she doesn't know what she's looking at.

well if not... my budget is around 1100-1300
i want and slr and a lens or two...
I am just starting out, but I do have some talent... I want to get a camera that I won't grow out of too quickly.

how about this? [ame]http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000N4LNZO/ref=dp_olp_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1220468568&sr=1-8[/ame]

I have purchased 4 cameras from Cameta Camera, they are EXCELLENT.

are those lenses good, and will they hold up with me for a few years?
I know the d200 is a good camera (though its not a d300 ::tear:: ...) and I am sure it will serve me well.

Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX ED Zoom Lens
Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Lens

Those are the lenses

WELL... if it were up to me I would save a bit more money and buy the VR versions of both lenses.

Then again, if it were me, I would be shopping for lenses FIRST and camera second.

The D200 is a good camera.

How about waiting a few days and seeing what the D90's going to look like?
