You've got champagne taste and not enough money for even a beer.

You mean for Milwaukee beast! Oo

This is just My personal perspective.

I would not waste My time or money on any manual focus lens for the d5100, I have a d5000 and it is extremely tedious to get tack sharp photos by manual focusing.

I am far from a PRO but I have spent two years shooting the d5000 and have difficulty when trying to manual focus.

The camera does a better job at it than I can.

Any lens that retails less than $500 would not be on my wishlist, That body will last years, you just need quality glass.

I suggest you get... A JOB. lol something part time that'll give you some scratch for your hobby. Photography ain't cheap. sorry =/

So much cheaper than many other hobbies, including my former hobby of cars.

Lol, very true. but you're comparing with a REALLY expensive hobby. That and my hobbies mostly include photo, cars, and computers so... my wallet hates me xD

Man, try to come up with $165.00 and buy a used Nikon AF-S 35mm F1.8. You wont regret it.

A lens for a D5100 for under $50? If you find something, let me know...

Actually now that I think of it, you could get an old e series 50mm for ~$40-$70 but you'd be out auto focus though. Not sure if it meters on a 5100 as well.
