Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I am wanting to buy the 24-70 and wanted to know if someone could take a picture of the same subject using both lenses. I would like to see if there is much of a difference in the quality of photo.

I tried looking for examples online, but it's hard to tell because I am not comparing the same photo. The subject and lighting are never the same. I'd really appreciate the help in making my final decision.

What if whoever takes the photos is clueless and they look like ****?

You will likely see zero difference even if a pro takes the photos. However, the 50 stopped down to f/2.8 will probably be a tiny bit sharper than the 24-70 set to 50 mm and f/2.8.

I have the 24-70 and 50 and I'm clueless !

Truthfully they are both so sharp I haven't bothered to pixel peep and compare. Much better things to do with time.

50mm is fixed (bad point). The good - It weighs a fraction of my 24-70, stops to f1.4, costs a fraction of the 24-70, doesn't intimidate people up close, and I love it.

I use both lenses a lot lately, the 24-70 is still my most used workhorse and delivers.

The nikon 24-70 is amazing. You dont need to see sample it is worth the money I assure you. get either that or the 17-55 f2.8. both are great.

I'll try to do a 100% crop when I get home, but this was at 52mm (Nikon 24-70mm) FOV, f9

^^^^^nice I can rock my 24-70 Nikon in nasty dark continuous make-shift pretend wanna-be studio lighting and it still makes me a photo heh

Ditto.
Which 50 1.8 or 1.4? In terms of IQ, some say, along with some tests that there's a difference. Personally the only time I've seen a difference at 2.8 b/n these two glasses was when image was blown up to 20x24 and even then I had to stand w/in 2 feet to see the difference. I got my 50 1.8 as a gift and after experimenting w/ the two upgrade wasn't worth the price.

What are you shooting?

What bodies do you have now (Dx, Fx)?

I have few bodies/lenses that I used either for work and/or for play. 24-70 is my work (general) lens. 50 used to be my in-studio lens on Dx body. Now on Fx body I use 85. 50 still serves a purpose on my non-work Dx body when I run around with my kids in the park shooting stills/video of them.

Both are great lenses. You can't judge lens quality from a couple random pics on the internet.

50 1.8g
24-70

No brainer..buy the 50 if it works for your application....you are done and a whole lot cheaper.

This was shot with a Sigma 50mm 1.4... at around f2.8 if I remember correctly. Just a candid at a company Xmas party... with bounced flash. Only 50mm I have available.

As mentioned... you will not be able to see any real difference in shots between the two lenses... on anything posted to the internet (If the photos are well exposed, properly focused... and posted to minimize compression). You might see a small difference if you had the original full size photos... and did some pixel peeping.
