Plexiglass?

Plexi glass has sharp edges that need to be sanded down, using it will pose a questionable hazard unless you can get presanded. I've cut my hand quite easily from handling it, use work gloves. Putting pressure on it will crack it easily, not meant for weight.

hum then plexiglass is not what I mean, this stuff is safe to stand on and we use it in the studio all the time.

Well then, find out where they got theirs. Lowes and Home depot sell 1/8 to 1/4 inch plexiglass panels meant to replace broken glass panes. They may have some as large as 3x5' I think but the edges and corners are quite sharp and jagged. I would suggest the tile board, I've seen many more use that.
