OP, I didn't see your other thread, but now wish I had for context. It sounds vaguely like you were asking people for support/fundraising for photography. That type of thing 99% ends badly, here or anywhere else. But I don't know what occurred so I can't say that this is totally applicable.

Ok... real question. Been looking at SLR cameras, which has been the basis of my budget planning ... but I was pointed towards cameras ranging between $3,000 and $6,000... and now see a lot of them under $1,000... how do those compare... like the Canon Rebel t4i, for example?
