Pop-Out Backdrops

I am looking for a backdrop for at-home portrait practice. Not having a lot of space I don't want the bother of folding up stands all the time & rolling up large muslin pieces, and I am looking at pop-out backgrounds, which look very convenient. Something like this:

However, in the bottom picture in the ad, this looks not only transparent but both sides look the same colour and I am wondering how black it will look in front a white wall. Does anyone here use this type of backdrop?

I’ve got one of these pop outs and it works wonders. And it’s great in storage as well.

If you have a white wall, use it. Just be sure you over power ambient by 4 stops and you have a black bg even if it's color is white. If there is a bit of texture on the white wall, hit it with lights from either side and take it about 2 stops reflective and you will have pure white.

Do you mean take a meter reading from the light reflected from the wall?
