Just arrived in Port Aransas this afternoon, staying a month or two. Lots of birding to be had. Today's pelicans at the jetty
Nice series, and welcome to Texas. I spent a morning in Port A. on December 9th. There was a wayward Flamingo there, but I understand it has now left. Good luck with your adventures. There are many Whooping cranes in Lamar/Goose Island, too. I have one more for you if you are interested. A full-grown male Rufous hummingbird has been the star at Hazel Bazemore Park near Corpus Christi. Have fun.
When at GI, go to the pasture between 8th St and 12th (The Big Tree). The Whooping Cranes will be much closer there.I was hoping to see that wayward flamingo...it's "Pink Floyd" from the Wichita KS zoo, where I'm from....I snapped a photo of him and his fellow cellbreaker just outside of the zoo on the Big Ditch, many years ago....
And I've got some Whooping Crane photos at Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Area already...and we're headed to Goose Island next week
