Portable power

Is there anything besides the Vegabond or Hensel Porty's that I can use to power two strobes on location? I don't care if its a noisy generator or if it smells like gas I just don't know which ones will be compatible with my strobes (300w each).

Can I use one of these plugged into my car... I'm so out of my comfort zone here I'm really bad with electronics! Thanks

Yes, sort of. 1000w is the max output but not the recommended operating output. but for strobes it shouldn't be a problem. The catch is that I wouldn't feel comfortable running that set up for very long without the car running. I'm pretty sure the inverter will be making some noise after a few "pops"

I'm sure your car is quieter than a generator.

Thanks... Any idea if this would work? My strobes total 600w. I'm not worried about my car battery, I have a charger that is amazing

I'd be careful with those cheap no-name brand inverters... they can get extremely hot and catch fire, damage your lights, etc.

This one is cheaper than the ebay one, is a name brand (same Cobra that's been making radar detectors for years), and has fairly positive reviews:
