Portrait to C&C

Well, I know this shots are far from perfect, but I need to know what you think. First of all, how i took the pics. The girl was in the middle of the room, opposite of window, because I used window light mostly, camera flash too, but I was far from the girl, I was near the window... And this shiny Christmas things was far behind the girl, because my idea was to make bokeh, whatever it takes I have ultra zoom camera with small sensor, and if I use wide angle it would never blur the background this way

As a snapshot this light is fine, but it's a little flat and a bit hot and harsh. Softening the light with a soft box or umbrella at an angle will give you better results.

Turn the camera to the 'portrait' orientation, so the long sides of the frame are vertical, rather than horizontal.
