portraits with reflexing lights?

How do you achieve portraits with reflecting lights on the skin, is it mostly from the lightning or hdr? these are some examples STUDiO - a set on Flickr

wow that really helped at least tell me were to start should i use a lot of lightning or is it just editing? I have not seen anything like this before except few of physique photography
